Tanzania, Japan Strengthen Partnership for Economic Growth

Prime Minister Ishiba reassured that Japan remains committed to strengthening this bilateral relationship.

On May 29, 2025, Tanzania’s Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa, met with Japan’s Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tokyo.

The meeting focused on deepening the long-standing diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations, with a special emphasis on expanding cooperation for sustainable development.

Prime Minister Majaliwa expressed gratitude for Japan’s continued support through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a key development partner that has funded and facilitated numerous projects across Tanzania. These initiatives span critical sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, education, and healthcare, which have been vital in advancing Tanzania’s socio-economic development goals under the Big Results Now program.

Prime Minister Ishiba reassured that Japan remains committed to strengthening this bilateral relationship.

Tanzania’s diplomatic outreach aligns with its strategic goals of attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and promoting regional integration through frameworks such as the East African Community (EAC).
