Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has highlighted the growing partnership between Tanzania and Japan, noting a remarkable increase in trade between the two countries.

Speaking at the ongoing World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, Majaliwa shared that trade volume soared from $7 billion in 2023 to $37 billion in 2024. This surge reflects not only stronger economic ties but also deepening diplomatic and political cooperation.

Representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Prime Minister praised the Japanese market’s increasing interest in Tanzanian agricultural products such as tea, coffee, sesame, tobacco, and cloves. He also pointed out the growing appreciation for Tanzania’s cultural heritage, including traditional Tingatinga paintings and local crafts.

Majaliwa invited Japanese investors and those from around the world to explore Tanzania’s abundant opportunities in sectors like education, healthcare, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and tourism. He emphasized Tanzania’s strategic location in East Africa, sharing borders with seven countries: Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique. This geographic advantage positions Tanzania as a gateway to regional markets in East, Southern, and Central Africa.

He also noted the country’s peaceful environment, fertile lands, and stable governance as key factors that make Tanzania an attractive destination for investors.
