Rapper and entertainment mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has filed an appeal in the United States Court of Appeals, requesting the reversal of his 50-month prison sentence stemming from convictions on two counts related to prostitution.
His legal team argues that the original sentencing failed to follow proper legal standards, making the conviction unfair and unconstitutional.
The appeal was submitted to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York. Combs’ attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, told the court that the trial judge relied on evidence linked to charges that were allegedly flawed. She described the sentence as “invalid, unconstitutional, and in violation of the defendant’s fundamental rights,” highlighting procedural errors and questionable evidence that compromised the fairness of the trial.
Combs’ lawyers are asking the appellate court either to vacate the sentence entirely or to order a new trial. In the event a full reversal is not granted, they are seeking a reduction in his prison term. The legal team also requested that the appeal process be expedited, allowing Combs to benefit quickly should the court rule in his favor.
