Samia Suluhu Reaffirms Commitment to Union

President Suluhu Hassan highlighted the historical significance of the Union, noting that it has been instrumental in fostering national unity and stability.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential candidate, reiterated her unwavering commitment to safeguarding the Union between Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania.

She emphasized that the Union is mutually beneficial, stating, “Tunakwenda kuulinda kwa nguvu zote Muungano wetu, kwani ni Muungano wenye faida kwa pande zote. Muungano huu una faida kwa Zanzibar, una faida kwa Bara, tunategemeana.”

President Suluhu Hassan highlighted the historical significance of the Union, noting that it has been instrumental in fostering national unity and stability. She assured the citizens of Zanzibar that her administration would continue to uphold the principles of the Union, ensuring that both Zanzibar and the mainland thrive together.

The President’s remarks come as the country approaches the general elections scheduled for October 29, 2025. With the CCM’s dominance in the political landscape, President Suluhu Hassan’s campaign focuses on promoting unity, peace, and economic development across Tanzania.

In her speech, she also touched upon the government’s achievements in various sectors, including infrastructure development, healthcare, and education. She pledged to continue these efforts, aiming for a 7% annual economic growth rate by 2026, with Zanzibar projected to lead at 7.1% growth. Additionally, she announced plans to implement universal health insurance,

starting with vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, expectant mothers, and people with disabilities, within the first 100 days of her potential second term.
