President Samia Suluhu Hassan has returned to Tanzania after concluding an official working visit to the United Arab Emirates, a trip that highlighted her administration’s continued focus on strengthening international cooperation and advancing economic diplomacy.

While in the Gulf state, President Samia participated in the World Governments Summit 2026, a globally recognized forum that brings together heads of state, senior government officials, and policy experts to exchange ideas on governance, innovation, and sustainable development. The summit, hosted annually in Dubai, has grown into a key space for shaping global conversations on how governments can adapt to rapidly changing economic and technological realities.

During her engagements, President Samia emphasized Africa’s increasing importance in the global economy and called for partnerships that prioritize long-term development and shared prosperity. She used the platform to outline Tanzania’s reform agenda, noting efforts to improve the investment climate, strengthen institutions, and open up opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, tourism, and the digital economy.

The visit also included her participation in the launch of a new international investment platform aimed at promoting opportunities across Africa. The initiative is expected to link African economies with global capital and encourage projects that support industrial growth and job creation. In recent years, foreign direct investment in Africa has drawn growing global attention, driven by expanding markets, demographic growth, and increased regional integration.

According to officials who accompanied the President, the visit provided an opportunity to deepen bilateral relations and hold discussions with a wide range of international partners. Talks reportedly focused on expanding trade, enhancing cooperation in transport and logistics, promoting renewable energy projects, and strengthening financial sector collaboration.

The United Arab Emirates has increasingly positioned itself as a global hub connecting Africa, Asia, and Europe, making it a strategic partner for countries seeking access to international markets. Its role as a center for trade, investment, and diplomacy has made engagements with African leaders particularly significant.

Observers say President Samia’s active presence at high-level global forums reflects Tanzania’s broader foreign policy direction, which places strong emphasis on economic diplomacy and international engagement. Since taking office, she has consistently used such platforms to project Tanzania as a stable, reform-oriented country that is open to cooperation and investment.

As Tanzania continues to pursue its long-term development goals, officials believe the outcomes of the UAE visit will contribute to strengthening the country’s global profile. Follow-up discussions and engagements are expected in the coming months as the government works to translate international dialogue into tangible economic and development gains at home.
