Police Force Halts Planned CCM Public Meetings in Ngorongoro

The Tanzania Police Force has blocked the public meetings of the Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party that were scheduled to take place in the Ngorongoro district, Arusha region, from August 29, 2024, to September 15, 2024. These meetings were expected to be led by CCM’s National Executive Committee Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, CPA Amos Gabriel Makala.

A statement from the Police Force, sent from the office of the Officer Commanding District (OCD) in Ngorongoro to the main CCM office in Ngorongoro district, in response to a CCM letter with reference number CCM/NGN/OFU/10/311/VOL. 111/37 dated August 23, 2024, stated that the meetings have not been permitted.

The statement further explained that due to ongoing security operations in the area (Ngorongoro), the Police Force has suspended meetings, gatherings, and other such activities in the area until further notice.
