The head of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Election Observation Mission in Botswana (SEOM), Hon. Mizengo Pinda, has led a meeting of the SADC Troika Political, Defense, and Security Cooperation institution to discuss the preparations for the mission in Botswana.
The meeting, held in Gaborone on October 20, 2024, was attended by delegates from Tanzania, which is the Chair of the Organ; Malawi, the incoming Chair; and Zambia, the outgoing Chair, along with the SADC Secretariat.

The meeting received and discussed a report presented by the SADC Secretariat regarding the preparations for the upcoming General Election Observation in Botswana, scheduled for October 30, 2024.
The Secretariat also provided a breakdown of responsibilities for the various teams involved in this election mission.
During the meeting, Hon. Pinda expressed hope that the preparations and plans for the observation would proceed smoothly, enabling SEOM to carry out its responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
He further stated that if SEOM fulfills its observation duties and prepares the necessary reports for the election, it will assist the respective countries in improving their democratic systems and contribute to the promotion of democracy among member states.
