Over 400 tourists from Spain landed at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar on Saturday, the first time the island received such a direct flight from a European country.

The tourists were brought in by the airline World to Fly on its inaugural direct flight, a move expected to increase the number of tourists on the island.

Speaking after receiving the tourists, the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Communication, Dr Khalid Salum Mohamed, said that this is proof that Zanzibar is becoming more known worldwide and that this is the result of promoting the island.
