The Chairman of the Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Industry, Trade, Agriculture, and Livestock, Hon. Deodatus Mwanyika (MP), has urged businesspeople to collaborate with the government by reporting individuals with ill intentions aimed at undermining the Warehouse Receipt System.
Hon. Mwanyika made this call on October 20, 2024, during a visit by the Parliamentary Committee to Mvomero District in the Morogoro region, intended to inspect and discuss the future of various cash crops, including cocoa, and to emphasize the use of the Warehouse Receipt System.
Further explaining, the Chairman noted that many businesspeople benefit personally by bypassing procurement procedures for agricultural products from citizens, and he encouraged them to report such cases for legal action to be taken against the offenders.
“I urge everyone to cooperate to strengthen this system; if we know there are people engaging in dishonest practices, let’s report them promptly to our leaders,” stressed Hon. Deodatus Mwanyika.

As a result, the Chairman directed the Warehouse Receipt Regulatory Board (WRRB) to expand the system across all regions in the country and to increase the number of crops sourced from farmers, urging them to work diligently and innovatively to ensure the system operates effectively and uplifts farmers.
Additionally, Hon. Mwanyika thanked the government of the United Republic of Tanzania, led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for prioritizing farmers and improving their livelihoods through the introduction of this system, which helps farmers sell their produce at regulated prices.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Hon. Exaud Kigahe (MP), urged farmers to continue working hard and to utilize the Warehouse Receipt System for their benefit, thereby enhancing their income and that of the nation as a whole.
Farmers from Mhonda, including Boli Paul Ndege, stated that the system helps them set regulated prices and benefits them, in contrast to the past when they sold their produce at lower prices without a structured system.
