The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, on April 14, 2025, shared a detailed reflection on the achievements of the Sixth Phase Government over the past four years, during a press briefing held at the MAELEZO Auditorium in Dodoma.
In his address to journalists, Prof. Kabudi praised the government’s commitment to transparency and development, noting that the media, arts, and sports sectors have seen notable progress since the current administration took office.
“Information is power, and power must be shared with the people,” he said, stressing the importance of the media in strengthening democracy and holding leaders accountable. He pointed to the establishment and ongoing work of the Journalists Accreditation Board (JAB), which he said has played a key role in professionalizing journalism and promoting ethical media practices.
On the cultural front, Prof. Kabudi shared updates on the Cultural and Arts Fund, which was created to support Tanzanian artists and safeguard the country’s diverse cultural heritage. “Our artists are not just entertainers — they are storytellers, educators, and nation builders,” he said, underlining the government’s intent to invest in creative talent across the country.

Turning to sports, the Minister outlined several major infrastructure projects either completed or underway. These include the significant renovation of the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, which is on track for completion this April, and the development of a new 32,000-seat stadium in the capital, Dodoma. Additionally, he said the construction of Arusha Stadium is now 25% complete and progressing well.
“These are not just buildings — they are arenas for unity, hope, and pride,” Kabudi noted, explaining how improved sports infrastructure can provide opportunities for youth and promote national cohesion.
He also acknowledged the challenges faced along the way, including resource limitations and the evolving global landscape, but maintained that the administration remains focused on inclusive development.
“We’re not just building infrastructure; we’re building a stronger, more connected Tanzania,” he said.
The press conference served not only as a progress update but also as a call for continued collaboration between government institutions, the private sector, media professionals, and citizens. Prof. Kabudi closed by reaffirming the government’s dedication to cultural empowerment, sports development, and free, fair access to information.
