The government will continue to uphold and promote the integrity of ethical standards as a foundation for sustainable development through effective policies and laws, involving stakeholders from religious, educational, and community sectors to foster a culture where ethics are integrated into every aspect of Tanzanians’ lives.
This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, during the launch of the book titled “THE EROSION OF ETHICS, WHO IS TO BLAME,” authored by Dr. Abubakar Zubeir Bin Ally Mbwana, the Mufti and Chief Sheikh of Tanzania, on July 3, 2024, at BAKWATA Headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
“By promoting the principles of trust, justice, integrity, accountability, social unity, and sustainable prosperity, we will ensure that Tanzania’s development journey remains firmly rooted in our valuable ethics, with a future where our youth inherit a nation of integrity and opportunity,” said Dr. Biteko.
He also urged religious institutions in the country, including the Islamic faith, to collaborate with the government in providing spiritual guidance and ethical teachings to the community to combat negative behaviors and promote positive conduct.

“The Qur’an emphasizes the importance of trust, justice, and compassion in all aspects of life. Be steadfast in your devotion to God, bearing witness to justice. Do not let the hostility of people lead you to act unjustly. Act justly, that is closer to righteousness,” said Dr. Biteko.
Dr. Biteko directed the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups to involve stakeholders, ensuring the promotion of family participation in proper and ethical upbringing, actively participating in protecting ethics in our communities, fostering strong relationships within families, and promoting ethical teachings within households to strengthen the community.
Additionally, the Public Service and Good Governance sector must ensure that public institutions and the government lead by example in upholding ethical standards within the community.
