A woman who claims she worked as a hair-and-makeup stylist for Garth Brooks has filed a lawsuit alleging that he raped her in a Los Angeles hotel in 2019. In the lawsuit, she is identified only as Jane Roe.
Brooks has strongly denied the allegations and stated that he attempted to prevent the lawsuit from being filed in the first place.
According to the woman, she had been working for Brooks’ wife, country singer Trisha Yearwood, since 1999 and began working with Brooks himself in 2017.
She alleges that the assault took place during a trip from Nashville to Los Angeles, where Brooks was set to perform alongside soul singer Sam Moore at a Grammy Awards tribute in October 2019.

While Brooks typically traveled with a larger group, on this occasion, it was just the two of them on his private jet, and he had booked only one hotel suite for their stay, as stated in the lawsuit.
The woman claims that when she was in the hotel suite, Brooks appeared naked in the doorway to the bedroom and raped her. According to the lawsuit, after the assault, he acted as if nothing had happened and expected her to do his hair and makeup right afterward.
The woman’s lawsuit alleges that earlier in 2019, when she was at Brooks’ home, he had appeared naked in front of her, grabbed her hands, and put them on his genitals.
Brooks filed a preemptive lawsuit in federal court in Mississippi last month, in which both him and the woman are anonymous.
In court filings in that case, the plaintiff, going by John Doe, says the allegations are “wholly untrue,” and he first learned of them in July when she threatened to publicly sue him unless he gave her millions of dollars.
He asked a judge to stop the woman from “intentional infliction of emotional distress, defamation, and false light invasion of privacy.”

“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars,” Brooks’ statement said. “It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.”
Garth Brooks stated that he chose to file the case anonymously “for the sake of families on both sides.” He expressed confidence in the legal system, saying, “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
The woman’s lawsuit claims that Brooks exposed himself to her on multiple occasions, discussed sexual fantasies, and sent her explicit text messages. She also stated that she felt compelled to continue working for him due to financial difficulties, which he was aware of and took advantage of.
An email sent to the woman’s attorney inquiring whether she had reported her allegations to the police has not yet received a response.
At 62 years old, Brooks, who hails from Oklahoma, was a dominant figure in country music during the 1990s, known for hits like “Friends in Low Places” and “The Thunder Rolls.” He was known for bringing a theatrical, arena-rock style to his performances and infusing pop sensibilities into his music, achieving success that reached beyond typical country audiences.
He married fellow country artist Trisha Yearwood in 2005. There has been no immediate response from Yearwood’s representatives regarding the lawsuit.
