Family Mourned After Tragic Tanzanian Road Accident

The family spokesperson revealed that Francis Elineema Kaggi leaves behind his wife, Sophia Charles Makange, and their surviving child, Michelle.

A devastating road accident has left a Deputy Headteacher and her family grieving after losing her husband, four children, and brother.

The tragic incident shook the community and prompted a large memorial service at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania Kijitonyama Parish in Dar es Salaam.

On Sunday, pallbearers solemnly carried six coffins into the church, a moment that lasted six minutes. Thirty-two minutes later, Pastor Eliona Kimaro led the memorial service, which brought together family, friends, and community members to honor the lives of the deceased.

The family spokesperson revealed that Francis Elineema Kaggi leaves behind his wife, Sophia Charles Makange, and their surviving child, Michelle. Francis and Sophia, married in 2002, were blessed with four children:

Janemary (born 2001), Maria (born 2005), Joshua (born 2018), and their eldest son, Elineema Hamis Kaggi (born 1990). Janemary served as a Trade and Industry Officer at Igunga District Council in Tabora, while Elineema Hamis worked as an accountant at a national energy company.

The accident has left Sophia, a Deputy Headteacher at Kisutu Secondary School, devastated. She was supported by friends and relatives during the service as the congregation mourned the tragic loss of multiple members of one family.

Road safety advocates have cited this accident as yet another reminder of Tanzania’s ongoing challenges with traffic safety. Recent weeks have seen multiple fatal incidents, emphasizing the urgent need for stronger road safety regulations and public awareness campaigns. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, while community leaders call for measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
