The European Union has advised its citizens to stockpile at least 72 hours’ worth of food, water, and essential supplies as part of a broader effort to strengthen emergency preparedness.

The recommendation comes amid rising global tensions and concerns over potential crises, including conflicts, cyberattacks, and natural disasters.

Officials suggest that households keep emergency kits containing non-perishable food, bottled water, flashlights, batteries, essential medications, first-aid supplies, and important documents. Additionally, families are encouraged to create personal emergency plans to ensure they are prepared for unexpected disruptions.

The initiative is part of a new 30-step strategy introduced by the European Commission to enhance crisis response capabilities across the continent. Measures include stockpiling critical supplies, ensuring the continuity of essential services such as healthcare and utilities, and creating an EU crisis coordination center.
