Errol Musk—father of tech billionaire Elon Musk—has broken his silence over his son’s high-profile spat with U.S. President Donald Trump, calling for the two to reconcile and “restore their relationship.”
Speaking to the BBC, Errol Musk described the rift as a product of intense mental and emotional pressure on both sides. “There’s too much stress around both of them,” he said. “It would be good if they could settle things. I’ve told my son as much.”
The tension between the two men escalated after Elon Musk publicly criticized Trump’s recent economic and political stances and shared a post insinuating that Trump might have been associated with Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier known for a global sex trafficking scandal. Though the post was later deleted, the damage was done—and Trump, known for his sharp counterpunches, fired back.
At a campaign rally in Ohio, Trump lashed out at Musk, calling him “mentally unstable” and suggesting that federal contracts tied to companies like SpaceX and Tesla, Inc. could be in jeopardy. “He wants to go Democrat? He can forget about government deals,” Trump reportedly said.

Elon Musk, who also owns X (formerly Twitter), is no stranger to controversy, and his ventures—ranging from Neuralink to The Boring Company—are closely watched both in Silicon Valley and on Wall Street.
Errol Musk’s call for peace comes at a time when the stakes couldn’t be higher. Trump is currently leading the Republican race ahead of the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, and Elon’s companies continue to depend heavily on U.S. government partnerships, including contracts with NASA and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Experts note that a continued public feud between two of the most influential figures in politics and technology could have ripple effects—from political endorsements to regulatory scrutiny of Elon Musk’s ventures. According to CNBC, analysts are already questioning whether Musk’s public confrontations may harm investor confidence.
Interestingly, there are signs of softening. In a recent post, Elon Musk wrote that he “might have gone a bit far,” and Trump, during an appearance on a podcast, described the apology as “very nice,” signaling a possible de-escalation..
