The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Honorable Cosato Chumi, recently visited the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition at Nzuguni Stadium in Dodoma.
Representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Hon. Chumi praised the event for showcasing impressive innovation and the active participation of stakeholders from across Tanzania and beyond.
Walking through the exhibition booths, Hon. Chumi was visibly pleased by the creativity and cutting-edge technologies displayed by entrepreneurs, research institutions, international organizations, and professionals from the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors.
He highlighted the importance of Nanenane not only as a platform for promoting Tanzania’s agricultural products but also as a strategic avenue to strengthen economic diplomacy by introducing local innovations to global markets.
“This exhibition is a valuable opportunity for sharing knowledge and encouraging the adoption of modern technologies that can improve productivity and efficiency in our farming, livestock, and fisheries industries,” said Hon. Chumi.

During his tour, he engaged with various participants and listened attentively to the challenges farmers and pastoralists face, including limited access to capital, unreliable markets, and the need for increased government investment in agriculture.
Hon. Chumi emphasized that addressing these challenges aligns with the government’s broader vision of industrial economic development, enhancing citizen welfare, and building a productive society through sustainable wealth creation.
The Nanenane Fair, held annually from August 1st to 8th, is a vital event that gathers diverse players in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and natural resources. The 2025 theme, “Choose Good Leaders for Sustainable Development of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries,” underscores the critical role leadership plays in advancing these sectors.
As Tanzania pushes forward toward a future of sustainable development, Hon. Chumi’s message is clear: embracing technology and innovation is key to transforming agriculture into a more productive and competitive industry, benefiting all Tanzanians.
