The Vice Chairman of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Mainland, Stephen Wasira, has responded to remarks made by former ACT-Wazalendo leader Zitto Kabwe, who questioned why CCM appeared to be arguing with CHADEMA rather than focusing on dialogue.
Addressing a large crowd in Bariadi District, Simiyu Region, Wasira explained that CCM had already extended an invitation for talks, but CHADEMA had declined. “I proposed dialogue, but Tundu Lissu said it would be a waste of time. If someone has decided that their time is too valuable for a discussion, why should we force them?” Wasira remarked.
He called on CHADEMA to be clear about their demands, adding that if they were unwilling to engage directly with CCM, they should formally present their concerns to the relevant authorities.

Wasira’s comments come at a time when tensions between political parties remain high. While CCM continues to push for structured political engagements, opposition parties have often raised concerns about the political environment.
Observers see this latest exchange as part of the ongoing challenges in Tanzania’s political landscape, where dialogue remains crucial for addressing national issues. As the political climate shifts, many hope that both sides will find common ground to foster meaningful discussions that benefit the nation.
