A delegation from Tanzania’s ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), has arrived in Namibia to join the nation in mourning the loss of its founding president, Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma.
The funeral, set for March 1, 2025, will take place at Heroes’ Acre cemetery in Windhoek.
Leading the Tanzanian delegation is CCM Secretary-General Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, accompanied by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) Secretary for Politics and International Relations, Comrade Rabia Abdalla Hamid. The two leaders landed at Hosea Kutako International Airport on February 26, 2025, where they were received by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Namibia, Caesar Waitara.
The visit is not just a show of diplomatic solidarity but also a reflection of the deep historical ties between Tanzania and Namibia. Both countries share a rich history of collaboration, dating back to the struggle for independence, when Tanzania played a key role in supporting Namibia’s liberation movement, SWAPO.
Dr. Nujoma, widely regarded as the Father of the Nation, led Namibia to independence from apartheid South Africa in 1990 after decades of armed struggle. He then served as the country’s first president for 15 years, laying the foundation for its democracy and economic development.

His passing on February 8, 2025, at the age of 95, marked the end of an era for Namibia and Africa at large.
During their stay in Windhoek, the CCM delegation will take part in various events leading up to the state funeral. On February 28, Dr. Nchimbi is expected to attend a national memorial service, where leaders from across Africa and beyond will gather to honor Dr. Nujoma’s contributions.
The official funeral on March 1 will be the final tribute to a leader whose influence stretched far beyond Namibia’s borders. It is anticipated that dignitaries from multiple nations will be in attendance, further highlighting Dr. Nujoma’s impact on the liberation movements of Southern Africa..
Together with almost everything which appears to be building inside this particular subject material, many of your perspectives happen to be rather exciting. Nevertheless, I am sorry, but I do not subscribe to your entire idea, all be it radical none the less. It looks to everybody that your comments are generally not entirely rationalized and in fact you are generally your self not even totally certain of the assertion. In any case I did take pleasure in reading it.
