Tanzania is set to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025, and all eyes are now on the final inspection of venues by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) technical team.
The visit, scheduled for Friday, will confirm if the country is ready to welcome Africa’s best locally-based football talent.
Speaking on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Gerson Msigwa, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, reassured the public that Tanzania’s preparations are in full swing. He highlighted key venues such as the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam and the New Amaan Sports Complex in Zanzibar, stating they are ready to host both matches and training sessions.
“We are fully prepared to host this tournament,” Msigwa said confidently. “CAF will carry out its final inspections, and I am proud to say our facilities, including the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana, the Law School of Tanzania grounds, and the Major Isamuhyo field, are all set for use as training venues.”

The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, known for its grandeur and history, has undergone thorough upgrades to meet CAF’s stringent requirements. Similarly, the New Amaan Sports Complex in Zanzibar has been revitalized to host international matches.
Training facilities have not been left out, as the success of such a major tournament depends on providing teams with world-class amenities. These upgrades not only ensure a smooth tournament but also leave a lasting legacy for local football development.
The African Nations Championship, which begins on February 1 and runs until February 28, is a unique tournament that celebrates the talents of players who ply their trade within their home countries.
