The Minister for Construction ,Innocent Bashungwa, has been presented with a ceremonial rooster by a resident from Somanga Village, Kilwa District , Lindi Region.,Shawedi Mohamed Kimbwembwe.
The gesture was to commend the Minister’s great efforts in restoring road connectivity in the Tingi – Kipatimo area and the Main Road linking Dar Es Salaam, Coast, Lindi, and Mtwara regions.
The presentation took place shortly before the Minister was scheduled to present his ministry’s 2024/25 budget in Parliament. At the event, Kimbwembwe mentioned that the community had also prepared a special gift for President Samia Suluhu Hassan to appreciate her compassion and substantial funding for rehabilitating damaged infrastructure, although he could not disclose the details as they were still being finalized with other community members.
On July 30, 2020, Kimbwembwe had gifted a rooster to former President John Magufuli when he visited the area, for which President Magufuli had expressed gratitude for bringing a health center to their community.

“Minister Bashungwa, the people of Kilwa are presenting you with this gift in recognition of your remarkable work in restoring connectivity within 72 hours as promised,” remarked Kimbwembwe.
Mr. Kimbwembwe highlighted that what pleased the local community was the Minister’s decision to spend five days in the area, overseeing the repair of infrastructure damaged by heavy rains, showcasing his care and dedication.
“We understand that you came here following the specific instructions of our beloved President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. We, the people of Kilwa, have a gift ready for her, which I cannot reveal today as I am not authorized to do so. Please convey our love to her, and her gift will reach her,” added Kimbwembwe.
Upon receiving the gift, Minister Innocent Bashungwa expressed that it had inspired him, but he emphasized that greater appreciation should be directed towards President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, as she enabled all these initiatives.
Bashungwa pledged to revisit the area to evaluate the current condition of the road infrastructure and indicated that the government would undertake further enhancements as needed to alleviate inconvenience for the citizens.
