The Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Dr. James Andilile, has stated that access to water in rural areas is steadily improving, with ongoing efforts to regulate and reduce water tariffs.
Speaking today, Dr. Andilile explained that water prices, which previously varied across different regions, have now been standardized to ensure a uniform rate. This move aims to provide rural communities with affordable and equitable access to water services.
The government has been investing in rural water projects to enhance service delivery and ensure more citizens benefit from clean and safe water.

EWURA continues to oversee and regulate the sector to guarantee that water services are provided at the required quality and at costs that align with the economic realities of the people.
Dr. Andilile emphasized that regulating water tariffs has significant benefits, particularly for low-income households, as it helps alleviate the financial burden associated with accessing clean water. The government remains committed to collaborating with various stakeholders to further strengthen the availability of safe and affordable water across the country.
