In a significant tribute to the legacy of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, the African Union (AU) has erected a statue in his honor at the organization’s headquarters in Addis Ababa.

The unveiling ceremony took place on February 18, 2024, commemorating his remarkable contributions to the liberation struggles across the African continent.

Julius Kambarage Nyerere, revered as the Father of the Nation in Tanzania, served as the country’s first President and was a staunch advocate for African culture, unity, and the Swahili language.
