Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, has urged the public to follow safety precautions and official guidance issued by experts and relevant authorities to reduce the impact of disasters and emergencies.

Prof. Kabudi made the call on August 19, 2026, while speaking during the commemoration of World Humanitarian Day held in Dar es Salaam.

He stressed that public participation is essential in strengthening community resilience against disasters, urging citizens to rely on official information and instructions from experts and authorities responsible for disaster management.

“The participation of citizens is important in strengthening the resilience of communities against disasters. People should continue to follow official information and instructions provided by experts and relevant authorities,” Prof. Kabudi said.

He further said the government would continue strengthening early warning systems and building community resilience to improve people’s ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters while minimizing their impact.

According to Prof. Kabudi, the country’s ability to respond effectively to disasters depends on strong systems, effective coordination and close cooperation among the government, humanitarian organizations and other stakeholders.

Prof. Kabudi also called on humanitarian service providers to invest more in empowering communities through education and accurate information about the risks surrounding them, as well as the measures they should take before, during and after a disaster.
