Serbian Ambassador to Tanzania Jovica Topalović has praised the development of the Government City at Mtumba in Dodoma, saying the project presents Tanzania with an opportunity to strengthen the environment for diplomatic activities and relations with other countries.
The ambassador made the remarks during a visit to inspect the site allocated for the construction of the Serbian Embassy in Mtumba, where he commended the Tanzanian government for its progress in developing the area.
Ambassador Topalović said he expected many diplomatic missions to relocate to Mtumba over the next decade, a development he believes will further strengthen Dodoma’s position as Tanzania’s diplomatic hub.
“I believe that within the next 10 years, many embassies will move to Mtumba,” he said, adding that the concentration of diplomatic missions in one area would create a more conducive environment for diplomatic engagement.
He said having several embassies located within the same area would facilitate interaction, coordination and cooperation among diplomatic missions while strengthening relations between Tanzania and other countries.

The Serbian envoy also highlighted the long-standing relationship between Serbia and Tanzania, noting that the two countries have maintained historical ties and cooperation in various areas.
He expressed optimism that bilateral relations between Serbia and Tanzania would continue to deepen over the next four years through increased cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
During the visit, Government City Construction and Development Coordinator in the Prime Minister’s Office, Noel Mlindwa, presented an update on the progress of construction and development activities at the site.
The visit was also attended by Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ellen Maduhu, along with ministry officials and technical experts from the Dodoma City Council.
The development of the Government City at Mtumba is part of Tanzania’s broader efforts to establish modern administrative and diplomatic facilities in the national capital, while creating an environment that can accommodate diplomatic missions and other international institutions.
