On October 9, 2025, Uganda celebrated its 63rd Independence Day at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala. The event highlighted the nation’s journey toward unity and progress since gaining independence from British colonial rule in 1962.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the need for national cohesion and economic development. He urged citizens to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation as key pillars for building a stronger nation. “Let us continue working together, putting aside differences, to build a prosperous and peaceful Uganda,” he said.
The celebrations featured military parades, cultural performances, and the awarding of medals to over 20 distinguished Ugandans for their exceptional contributions to national development during Uganda Independence Day.

First Lady Janet Museveni also addressed attendees, highlighting the importance of spiritual renewal and national unity. She expressed appreciation for the nation’s progress and encouraged citizens to continue striving toward a united and thriving Uganda.
