The Ministry of Finance has developed an Electronic Licensing System for Auctioneers and the Operation of Public Auctions, which enables citizens to apply for and obtain licenses electronically using mobile phones or laptops. This aims to eliminate the inconvenience and cost of traveling to Dodoma to acquire such licenses.

Speaking while educating citizens who visited the Ministry’s Pavilion at the National Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition in Dodoma, the Ministry’s Government Assets Manager, Mr. George Killo, said the system allows applicants to register from any location and obtain their licenses in a timely manner.

“An applicant for an auctioneer’s license must register through the Ministry of Finance website (www.mof.go.tz), then click on the GAMIS tab, fill in the required information, complete the application forms and submit them to the relevant District Executive Director for verification and endorsement,” Mr. Killo explained.

He noted that applicants are required to have a fully completed and endorsed application form, a Tax Clearance Certificate or certificate of incorporation, a business license, and ensure all supporting documents are uploaded in PDF format.

Mr. Killo added that the system allows applicants to track the status of their application—whether it has been submitted, rejected, or approved. Successful applicants will be listed on the Ministry’s website and can collect their licenses from the Government Assets Management Office in their respective regions.

“These licenses issued by the Ministry of Finance are used in the operation of public auctions, debt collection, levies, court brokerage, and real estate auctions. They are issued annually (January to December) at a fee of TZS 150,000 or semi-annually (January to June / July to December) at TZS 75,000,” he clarified.

He emphasized that any auctioneer operating a public auction within mainland Tanzania must be registered and possess a valid license issued by the Ministry of Finance.

The Ministry of Finance, along with its affiliated institutions, is participating in the National Nanenane Exhibition held in Dodoma under the theme “Choose Good Leaders for Sustainable Agricultural and Fisheries Development 2025.”
