Pope Francis has called on warring countries worldwide to cease hostilities before Christmas.

In his Sunday prayer this week, the Pope lamented the ongoing brutal attacks in Ukraine and Gaza, stressing that these are severe sufferings for innocent civilians.

“Let the guns be silent, and let the Christmas songs be heard!” said Pope Francis, emphasizing the importance of peace during the Christmas celebrations.

He continued, “Let us pray that on Christmas Day there will be a ceasefire in all areas of conflict, in Ukraine, in the Holy Land, the Middle East, and worldwide.”

Pope Francis reflected on the suffering of the Ukrainian people, where cities are regularly attacked, and schools, hospitals, and churches are being destroyed.

Additionally, he expressed deep sorrow over the situation in Gaza, describing how the violence involves the killing of children and the destruction of vital institutions such as schools and hospitals.

This appeal aims to end the pain and suffering of civilians, with the Pope stressing that Christmas is a time for peace and unity.
