CAG Report 2022/2023 Highlights

Some excerpts from the Controller and Auditor General’s (CAG) Report, which includes the results of audits of the central government accounts, local government, public entities, and development projects, as well as audits of efficiency and ICT systems.

Shillings 42.92 billion were spent on activities that were not in the budget or paid using incorrect expenditure items.

Funds amounting to Shillings 4.88 billion were reallocated without the authorization of the relevant authority.

Payments of Shillings 2.95 billion were made for works that were not measured or implemented.

Income of Shillings 72.89 billion went uncollected, and Shillings 6.18 billion were not deposited in the bank, thus hindering the implementation of development projects.

Incomplete infrastructure, thus hindering the utilization of development projects worth Shillings 10.66 billion.

Shortage of professionals, infrastructure, medical equipment, and medicine in health facilities.”
