Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have touched down in Nigeria for a 72-hour tour aimed at promoting the Invictus Games, a sports event for wounded, injured, or sick armed services personnel and veterans.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Nigeria on Friday via a British Airways overnight flight to Abuja. Upon landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, they were greeted by Nigerian officials before being whisked away in a blacked-out minibus.
This visit, primarily focused on promoting the Invictus Games, stems from Prince Harry’s previous interaction with the Nigerian team and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa during last year’s competition in Dusseldorf, Germany.
At that event, Prince Harry shared Meghan’s support for Team Nigeria, noting her heritage ties to the West African nation.

Invited by General Musa, the royal couple’s itinerary includes a visit to a local school and engagements with injured service members at a military hospital.
Additionally, they will participate in a training session organized by Nigeria: Unconquered, a charity that collaborates with the Invictus Games, and attend a reception honoring military families.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s presence in Nigeria underscores their commitment to supporting initiatives that empower and celebrate the resilience of military personnel and veterans.
Their visit is expected to further strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and Nigeria while highlighting the importance of sports in promoting unity and rehabilitation among wounded warriors.
