A Tanzanian delegation led by Ambassador John Ulanga has opened doors for stronger business ties between Tanzania and Vietnam, highlighting fresh opportunities for trade and investment.
The diplomatic mission—part of Tanzania’s broader strategy to attract foreign investment—met with key Vietnamese business leaders and industry associations in Ho Chi Minh City. The focus was clear: to showcase Tanzania’s vast potential in sectors such as agriculture, construction, and modern fishing, and to build partnerships that can unlock mutual economic benefits.
“These engagements are more than just meetings—they are about creating real, lasting relationships that drive growth for both countries,” said Ambassador Ulanga, who heads the Department of Economic Diplomacy and International Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.
The Tanzanian team visited and held discussions with prominent organizations including the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, Hao Binh Construction Cooperation, and the Vietnam Cashew Association. Each meeting was tailored to introduce the specific advantages Tanzania offers—from fertile land and expanding infrastructure to government-backed incentives for investors.
The response from Vietnam was encouraging. Business leaders there expressed genuine interest, praised the openness of Tanzania’s investment climate, and committed to exploring the necessary steps to establish trade and investment links.
Joining Ambassador Ulanga on the mission were senior officials and private sector leaders: Gilead Teri from the Tanzania Investment Centre, Felista Rugambwa from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vincent Minja from the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Investment, and Nahdi Saleh Mbarak, a prominent entrepreneur.

This visit comes at a time when Tanzania is actively working to diversify its economy and promote non-traditional exports, including value-added agricultural products like cashew nuts. With Vietnam being one of the world’s leading players in seafood processing and cashew exports, the collaboration could be a win-win for both sides.
Beyond trade numbers and boardroom meetings, the initiative represents a vision of shared progress—one where East African potential meets Southeast Asian expertise.
The talks are expected to continue, laying the groundwork for new projects and joint ventures that may soon take shape.
