Tanzania and Egypt have taken steps to strengthen cooperation across key economic sectors, including transport, agriculture, and industrial development, during high-level talks held in Egypt’s Administrative Capital, Cairo.

The discussions brought together Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, and Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, with Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Industrial Development and Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir.

Ambassador Kombo reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties with Egypt, stressing that expanded cooperation would benefit both nations. “We value our longstanding relationship with Egypt and are committed to identifying practical initiatives that enhance trade, investment, and industrial growth,” he said.

Mr. Al-Wazir praised Tanzania’s investment environment, highlighting ongoing infrastructure improvements and stable policies that create a conducive atmosphere for investors. He expressed Egypt’s keen interest in establishing large-scale industrial projects in the Kwala area of the Coast Region, citing the region’s strategic advantages and readiness for industrial development.

Prof. Kabudi emphasized the role of cultural and media exchanges alongside economic collaboration, noting that joint efforts in arts, communication, and information sharing could further strengthen the bonds between the peoples of Tanzania and Egypt.

The ministers also discussed regional transport networks and agreed to explore opportunities for enhanced connectivity and logistical cooperation. These measures aim to facilitate the smooth movement of goods and services, promoting trade between East Africa and North Africa.

Observers say Egypt’s interest in Tanzanian industrial zones reflects growing confidence in the country’s investment policies and long-term development prospects. Both nations pledged to continue high-level consultations and technical collaborations, with follow-up meetings scheduled in 2026 to monitor progress and identify additional opportunities for partnership.
