UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has declared that the United Kingdom is prepared to put “boots on the ground and planes in the air” to uphold a peace deal in Ukraine.

Speaking at a security summit in London, Starmer reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression, stressing that any future peace agreement must be defended. “We will not allow Ukraine’s security to be compromised. If necessary, we are ready to deploy troops and air support to ensure the peace is maintained,” he stated.

The Prime Minister’s remarks signal a significant shift in Britain’s stance, raising the possibility of direct military involvement in Ukraine beyond the supply of weapons and financial aid. Starmer emphasized that Europe must take responsibility for Ukraine’s long-term stability and that the UK will play a leading role in securing the region.

This statement comes amid growing discussions among NATO allies about reinforcing Ukraine’s defense capabilities and deterring further Russian offensives. While the UK has been a key supporter of Kyiv, providing billions in military aid, the prospect of sending British forces into the region could mark a new phase in the conflict.

The Kremlin has yet to respond to Starmer’s remarks, but Russian officials have previously warned against direct Western military intervention, calling it a dangerous escalation.

As diplomatic efforts continue, Starmer’s comments underscore the UK’s unwavering support for Ukraine and its willingness to take decisive action in safeguarding European security.
