Russian President Vladimir Putin has strongly condemned the bloody and barbaric terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. He expressed sorrow for the innocent victims and assured that medical professionals would spare no effort in saving lives.
Putin emphasized that investigative and law enforcement agencies would diligently uncover all details of the attack.
In his video address, the president declared a National Day of Mourning on Sunday, March 24, to commemorate the victims of the attack.
Describing the incident as a planned mass murder of civilians, Putin likened the attackers to cold-blooded killers, reminiscent of Nazi atrocities. He vowed that all individuals involved in the planning, execution, and financing of the attack would face rightful punishment.
Putin expressed his gratitude to all first responders, to law enforcement, and to ordinary citizens, too, who helped the victims of the attack. At the same time, the president stressed another effort is underway, focused on the prevention of any further attacks.
“We will identify and Punish everyone. All perpetrators, Organizers and Masterminds of the terrorist Attack at Crocus City Hall will receive a just punishment” Visibly angry Putin declared.
Putin affirmed Russia’s commitment to combating terrorism and expressed willingness to collaborate with other nations in addressing this common threat. He concluded by asserting that terrorists would not escape retribution for their actions.
Crocus City Hall, a large mall and music venue just northwest of the Russian capital, came under attack by unknown assailants late Friday. At least three individuals armed with assault rifles attacked visitors and targeted a concert hall, setting it on fire.
The attackers struck the venue, situated at one end of the sprawling complex in Moscow Region, just before a concert by the rock band Picnic, which was scheduled for Friday evening. The Crocus City Hall features a concert hall, an aquarium, a mall, and a wedding venue.
