President Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to officiate the 11th East African Oil and Gas Conference, which will take place from March 5 to 7 in Dar Es Salaam.
This prominent event is expected to attract over 1,000 participants, including industry experts, policymakers, and investors from East Africa and beyond, who will gather to discuss opportunities, challenges, and the future of the region’s oil and gas sector.
During a press briefing in Dar Es Salaam on Friday, Eng. Felchesmi Mramba, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, highlighted that the conference will address several key issues. These include oil and gas exploration, investment opportunities, infrastructure development, enhancing the value chain, and strategies for transitioning to clean energy sources.

Deputy Permanent Secretary James Mataragio mentioned that as the host country this year, Tanzania will be represented by three delegates—two from the mainland and one from Zanzibar—while other participating nations will each send two representatives.
Jean Baptiste Havugimana, the Director of Productive Sectors at the East African Community (EAC), highlighted the conference’s significance in promoting regional cooperation and addressing industry challenges.
He pointed out that discussions will also center on regulatory frameworks, technological advancements, and financing mechanisms for oil and gas projects.
Since its launch in 2003, the East African Oil and Gas Conference has been held every two years, rotating among member states.
Having last hosted the event in previous years, Tanzania is once again taking the lead as the regional energy sector continues to develop.
