Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, addressed recent U.S. actions, making it clear that while Iran doesn’t seek conflict, it will not hesitate to respond forcefully if provoked.
In his speech today, Khamenei stated, “The U.S. must understand that we’ve never been the ones to start conflicts with anyone.” He further warned that if any malicious acts were committed, Iran would retaliate with “severe blows.”
His comments come amid rising tensions following U.S. airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen, a group accused of attacking vessels in the Red Sea. Khamenei condemned these airstrikes, calling them unlawful and stressing that the Houthis are an independent group, not under Iran’s direct control.
The Supreme Leader also addressed the U.S. and Israel’s involvement in the Syrian civil war, referring to it as a “crime initiated by the United States and Israel.” He explained that Syria’s resistance against Israeli occupation and support for anti-Israel groups is what fueled the conflict.
Khamenei’s remarks also included a response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent letter proposing new nuclear negotiations, along with a two-month deadline for Iran to comply or face harsher sanctions. The Supreme Leader dismissed Trump’s letter, calling it deceitful and a pretext for more sanctions.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, also weighed in, stating that the U.S. has no authority to dictate Iran’s foreign policy. Araqchi emphasized that while Iran is considering Trump’s letter, it will not enter direct negotiations under the current conditions of ongoing threats and sanctions.
Khamenei’s words reaffirmed Iran’s stance on defending its sovereignty and regional interests. He made it clear that while Iran is not interested in starting conflicts, it will take all necessary steps to protect itself from any aggression.
In the face of increasing pressures, Khamenei’s message to the U.S. and the world is clear: Iran will stand firm in defending its territory and people, no matter the cost.
