The Kremlin says there is currently no formal plan in place to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, while Moscow expects trilateral negotiations involving Russia, the United States and Ukraine to resume in the future.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said discussions between the three countries could eventually restart, although no specific date has been announced for the next round of talks.
“There is no formal plan at the moment,” Peskov said, indicating that diplomatic efforts remain uncertain despite previous rounds of negotiations aimed at finding a possible pathway toward ending the conflict.
Moscow has continued to signal its willingness to engage in diplomatic discussions, particularly through direct contacts with Washington. However, the absence of an agreed framework highlights the difficulties facing efforts to bring the war to an end.
The proposed trilateral format would bring Russian, American and Ukrainian representatives into the same negotiating process. Previous talks have largely focused on establishing communication channels and exploring possible conditions for a settlement.

Peskov’s remarks suggest that Moscow views future negotiations as possible, but that significant disagreements remain between the parties.
The Kremlin has repeatedly argued that any potential settlement must address what it describes as Russia’s core security concerns. Ukraine, meanwhile, has maintained that any peace agreement must respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The United States has remained an important player in the diplomatic process, given its military, financial and political support for Kyiv and its broader role in negotiations involving Moscow and Ukraine.
The possibility of renewed trilateral talks could therefore represent an important diplomatic development if Russia, Ukraine and the United States agree on the timing and framework for another round.
For now, however, the Kremlin says there is no formal peace plan, leaving the future of the negotiations uncertain as the conflict continues.
Moscow’s expectation that trilateral talks could resume nevertheless indicates that diplomatic channels remain open, even as the parties continue to differ sharply over the terms of a possible settlement.
