The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, spoke over the phone with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
During the call, President Tokayev expressed deep condolences and solidarity with the Russian people over the tragic aftermath of the recent terrorist attacks in Dagestan. He strongly condemned the “barbaric missile attack on civilians in Sevastopol” as well.
President Putin thanked Tokayev for the words of support. Both leaders emphasized their willingness to build up cooperation in fighting terrorism.

The Russian President also informed his Kazakh counterpart about the results of his recent visits to Pyongyang and Hanoi. Several aspects of the continued expansion and development of Russia-Kazakhstan cooperation in the energy sector were also discussed.
The two leaders agreed to maintain personal contacts, including at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit scheduled to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan on July 3-4.
This high-level phone call demonstrates the close ties and coordination between Russia and Kazakhstan, particularly in addressing shared security concerns like terrorism. The leaders’ commitment to strengthening energy cooperation is also noteworthy given the countries’ important roles in the global energy market.
